Speakers: Cara Sheridan, Ruminant Veterinary Integration Manager, MSD; Michelle McGrath, Vet, Animal Health, Ireland
A healthy herd is the foundation of productive, efficient and sustainable dairy farming. This practical workshop will explore how good herd health planning can improve animal performance, reduce disease, save time and labour, and lower farm costs.
Delegates will look at the key elements of an effective herd health programme, including disease prevention, biosecurity, diagnostics and vaccination. With so many vaccines available, knowing what to use and when can be challenging.
Using practical farm examples, the session will provide guidance on vaccination programmes and how to work with your vet to develop a tailored herd health plan that protects your animals and supports a successful year ahead.
Speakers: Michael Corbett, Rural Crime Superintendent; Edel Bourke, Sergeant and Dairy Farmer
Rural Crime Superintendent Mick Corbett will explore the growing concerns around drugs and their impact on rural communities. This informative session will look at drug awareness, prevention and the importance of recognising and reporting suspicious activity.
Delegates will hear practical advice for parents, families and communities on protecting young people, understanding the risks associated with drug use and tackling drug-related crime. Mick will also explain how An Garda Síochána works alongside local communities to disrupt drug activity and help keep people safe.
The session encourages open conversation, greater awareness and community cooperation, offering practical information and advice to help rural communities respond to the challenges associated with drugs.

Imagine having a trusted co-pilot in your pocket — one that never sleeps and is always ready to answer your questions. This practical session brings AI down to earth with real farm examples you’ll instantly recognise.
Discover how AI can help you test “what if” scenarios around milk prices, feed and fertiliser costs, turn paperwork into useful insights, and provide a first point of reference for areas such as nutrition, machinery and animal health.
We’ll also explore the important boundaries — what’s safe to try yourself and when professional advice is essential.
Whether you’re curious, cautious or completely new to AI, you’ll leave with practical ideas for using AI to make everyday farming easier and more informed.

By focusing on practical application, you will leave with a clear roadmap to maximise dry matter yield, improve persistence, and boost fertiliser efficiency.
Whether you are planning a full reseed or looking to improve existing pastures, this workshop provides the essential frameworks for long-term success. Join us to transform your grassland productivity from the ground up.
Speakers: Aisling Claffey, Ruminant Nutrition Specialist, Teagasc; Emily Gowing, Business & Technology Advisor, Teagasc
This session will focus on the importance of dry cow nutrition and effective management during the dry period, highlighting how these factors can influence cow health, calving success, and performance in the following lactation.
Key topics will include mineral nutrition, forage quality, and practical transition feeding strategies. The session will also explore how to manage tight fodder supplies following drought conditions, including assessing feed inventories, prioritising available forage, and identifying suitable supplementation options.
Practical steps to prepare cows for spring will also be discussed, with a focus on effective calving management, educing the risk of metabolic disorders, and supporting a smooth transition into the grazing season.
Attendees will gain practical insights to help optimise herd performance, maintain animal health and welfare, and ensure cows are well prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the spring period.
