Child Safety Zoom Recap

Recap: DWI Child Safety Zoom with Embrace FARM and AgriKids

At Dairy Women Ireland (DWI), the safety of our families is a top priority, especially on the farm where so many of us live and work. That’s why we were thrilled to host a special Child Safety Zoom session this past Farm Safety Week in collaboration with Embrace FARM and AgriKids. This event brought together our community to focus on the crucial topic of keeping our children safe in agricultural environments.

A Collaborative Effort for a Safer Future

The session featured insightful presentations from both Embrace FARM and AgriKids, two organisations at the forefront of farm safety education. Embrace FARM, known for its work in supporting those affected by farm accidents, shared real-life stories that highlighted the importance of vigilance and safety measures on the farm. Their message was a powerful reminder of the potential risks in our daily lives and the steps we can take to minimise them.

AgriKids, an award-winning farm safety educational platform, captivated the audience with their engaging approach to teaching children about safety. They shared practical tips and strategies that parents can use to make safety a part of everyday conversations with their children. AgriKids emphasised the importance of creating a safe environment through education and awareness, empowering our children to recognise and avoid hazards.

Interactive Learning and Practical Takeaways

The Zoom session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and sharing their own experiences. Our members appreciated the practical advice offered, from tips on supervising children in farm environments to creating safe play areas away from machinery and livestock. The session also covered key aspects of child safety during busy times on the farm, such as during calving season or harvesting, when risks can be higher.

One of the standout moments was a demonstration on how to involve children in farm safety practices without instilling fear. This approach helps children understand the dangers while encouraging them to be responsible and aware of their surroundings. Both organisations provided resources that attendees could use to continue the conversation at home, ensuring that safety remains a priority long after the session ended.

A Stronger, Safer Community

The feedback from the session was overwhelmingly positive, with many DWI members expressing how valuable the information was for their families. The collaboration between Dairy Women Ireland, Embrace FARM, and AgriKids highlighted the strength of our community when it comes to protecting what matters most—our children.

As we continue to navigate the challenges of farming life, it’s crucial to remember that safety starts at home. We encourage all our members to take the lessons learned from this session and implement them on their farms. Together, we can create a safer environment for our children to grow, learn, and thrive.

For those who couldn’t attend the session, a recording is available to DWI members, along with the resources shared during the event. Let’s continue to prioritise safety in everything we do, and keep our families safe and secure on the farm.
